November 16
Apparently, I have crossed the line to too dang busy to blog. I have always teetered there. But I am back and here we go.
Bob has traveled some. He has been back to Spain, Texas, More Texas, and home some. He is going close to home next week. He also stayed a couple of days with his parents while Herman had some minor surgery. He has gotten to rest some days too and he appreciated that. He also got to spend more time with Veronica and Cash. Cash has figured out Poppie is one fun guy to hang out with. They play trucks and cars and tractors and bobcats for hours. Bob also introduced Veronica to a game on the computer called Fantastic Contraptions and they are both obsessed! So are all of my students. The game is even educational.
I have just worked. And then worked some more. Typical work week. Spend part of Sunday doing laundry, planning for the week, working at school. Monday-teach-then go home and watch Dances with the Stars. Tuesday-teach all day-then teach GED program-until 6:30. Wednesday-teach-then tutor until 4:45. Thursday-teach-then GED program again until 6:30-then watch My Name is Earl, Grey's Anatomy, ER. Friday-teach-collapse and/or babysit. Saturday-Just depends.
We have had some stressful transition this year among staff, but things seem better. I do enjoy the people I work with. I enjoy my students this year. However, we have had so many interruptions that I feel like I haven't got to teach much this year. Going to refocus on that.
I planned a field trip to a theater for my students. They enjoyed it. I did write a play about the Holocaust that my students performed for the community on Veterans Day. Actually I organized the whole event and it went really well. Many of the students and teachers and local veterans participated.
Bob and I hosted a Halloween party for many of my co-workers. In case you wonder what teachers do at parties...we have dress up in costumes, talk a lot, drink punch, play wii rock band, and sing horrible kareoke (Still can't spell.) A good time was had by all.
We also redid the bathroom. Paint, shower doors, trim, and other stuff. If I ever get the door repainted, we are done.
Halloween was fun. I passed out a lot of candy. I had over 100 trick or treaters. I saw a lot of my students and some students who are now the parents. Nobody put toilet paper in my trees!
Rachel and the kids wore themselves out getting everywhere. They had a snack before they left, but didn't have time to eat a meal. At 8:30, my front door opened and Cash came running in yelling, "Green Beans! Green Beans! Green Beans!" He then ran to his chair, got in it, and started shoveling all the food he could when I gave him a plate of roast, potatoes, and green beans. Rachel and Veronica were starved too and it was pretty quiet until they ate.
Rachel has been going out with friends more often. Sometimes she thinks she wants a boyfriend, but can't decide if they are worth the trouble. She and a girlfriend just went to a comedy club and had a great time. She is working for her dad and is getting ready to go textbook buying in December. The challenges of motherhood get to her sometimes, but she keeps moving on.
Drew is enjoying his new Army base in Colorado. Currently he is going to be a sniper. He didn't pick that, but they picked him based on his high ASVAB score. However, he also was encouraged to apply to fly helicopters. He is waiting for the flight aptitude test for that. He bought a new truck and is pretty excited about that. He will be coming home for Thanksgiving.
Mike and Ryan have called a couple of times. They are doing fine. Bob was actually home and got to speak to both of them. We still think they are graduating from high school this January.
Veronica is making her way through 2nd grade. She is still bubbly and has developed the habit of saying pretty much what she thinks. Even more than normal. It seems to be a second grade thing, as my friend has shared that her second grader does the same thing. Veronica is having a few problems with the change in weather due to her breathing problems. We are both big fans of Dancing With the Stars and she likes to spend Monday nights with me, so we can get our fix. She was a beautiful Renaissance girl for Halloween.
Cash is a happy and ACTIVE boy. His favorite things continue to be Hot Sausage, Tractors, His Momma and Sister, and his friends. He is talking up a storm. He can say anything you do. Sometimes that is not so good. His babysitter and her husband bought him a Bobcat machinery toy and that is what he talks about MOST of the time. Rachel is about to go nuts! I can tell what his conversations are when he is playing with his friend Hunter...."Bobcat! Mine! Bobcat! Hunter! Bobcat! Share!" He is very big on explaining who his toys belong to. He likes the word share if it means he gets to share. Cash was Elmo for Halloween.
Mom came up for her class reunion and a short visit. She is enjoying her retirement. We are still looking for a house for her. The kids just love her to death and want her to move soon.
I talk to my sister Beverly regularly. I also got to go dinner with my sister-in-law Debbie. I got to see her and Bill's grandsons on Halloween and they are cute and growing!
Our cat is alive. The fish is, but I really need to change his water.
Over and out!
